singhtaj: A lot of teenagers seem to find school boring now a days. They are experiencing a lot at that age, girls, hormones, peer pressure etc. If his grades are alright, I personally would not pressure him, but if his grades seems to be on a downward slide, you may want to consider trying to sit down with him and see if there is something going on that is bothering him, or take him to a doctor, and/or councilor if you are really worried. It may be nothing serious but worth looking into if you feel something is wrong. You know your child better than anyone else. Best of luck to you both

Hello. Is your son a freshman? Has your son always found school to be boring? Is it possible he is very bright, and doesn't have to study hard in order to still get good grades? Or have his grades gotten worse as he gets older? Sometimes, even bright students can have attention or learning difficulties, and when the work was easy in elementary school, they could do it anyway. As they get older and the work gets harder, they don't know how to do it, so they stop trying.
The other problem with some teenagers is that they may start to think about girls, and may try to experiment with drinking or drugs, which can interfere with academics. Until we know more about your son, it is hard for us to advise you.
