I know California has one of the better databases in the U.S. as far as what certifications/credentials their teachers have....I'm surprised they don't have an online way to verify school district boundaries, although I know those aren't always foolproof...In my area, we sometimes have schools within districts re-zoned, to prevent overcrowding, but the overall district boundaries are "fixed" for taxation purposes.
I work in a school district, and sometimes new families to the area do not know what their district is. Some of them don't know their APN - so a physical address is all I have to go by to determine what district they are in. I was hoping for a HUGE database with every school district in California, so I could just plug in the physical address, and VOILA - their district would be identified. Ah well, it's good to dream!
Sometimes, the grade level of your child, in addition to where you live, determines your school district. (ie, elementary and high school districts aren't the same.) The easiest ways are probably to ask a neighbor with a child of similar age which district their children go to, or stop by the school that's nearest your house and ask if your address falls in their attendance boundaries.
