Looking to relocate... Need help

dyna9227
I live in WNY area and will be moving to Ohio (only place I know something about is Lakewood, OH) I have driven into Rocky River, Fairview and if I remember correctly westlake area. Of course it was at night but both of my girls ages 14 and 11 were very interested in those schools for me to research. I dont have a job as of yet to be able to move today but things look as though i wont have to much of a problem getting one by end of March if not sooner. My chanllenge is finding a place to live that is in a school district the girls like. I have gone to the Lakewood schools but would like to see more. My girls are my world and I want this move to be as easy of a transission for them as possible... the girls being happy with thier schools will be one of my ways to ensure they are happy. I would love to get any advice you may be able to offer.

The best schools in the area are Avon, Avon Lake, Westlake, Bay Village, and Rocky River. None of these districts have open enrollment, so you have to move to the city. Here is the good and bad. Avon is getting really overcrowded, and home developers are building all over. For K -12 the kids go to 6 different schools and they are still building. Bay and River are both great, but your house will be old, small and not have much of a yard. (Unless you have 350K+) Both of these schools are full of spoiled rotten kids, so be warned. They are not good with outsiders who haven't grown up in their areas. Westlake and Avon Lake are great schools in the middle. I would suggest Avon or Avon Lake for high school since that is where your kids will be soon. Hope this helps.

Hi. Unfortunately, Greatschools is a nationwide website, and the chance of finding another parent from the same area, with children of similar ages, familiar with the same schools, is slim.
Have you tried using the "Research and Compare" feature on the green menu bar near the top of this page? Once you see a list of schools in the area, you can click on the name of each, and see more details, and any previous parent comments about them.
