We live in Orlando and we are moving next month to Houston, TX. My kids are in 8 & 9 grade . I'm confuse, if we move to Houston can they fail the TAKS State proficency test ? HEP me

They will have to take the TAKS. In 8th, they have to pass reading and math to be promoted to 9th grade. Once in high school, they do not have to pass the tests for promotion, but they do have to pass to graduate, and they will have to pass reading, writing, math, social studies, and science tests.

I don't live in TX, but I believe the TAKS is similar to the FCAT, and there are ramifications if children don't pass.
