There are more than a few schools now that have websites where the nightly homework is posted - some classroom teachers can also have their own class website where they post homework.
Every school and every classroom should have its own website these days and homework should be posted there - this is the modern age and websites are the way things are communicated in this modern age. Until schools catch up, we're left to do things the old-fashioned way. You can have your son call a trustworthy friend who would have the spelling words or you could ask an understanding mother to e-mail you the words.
Have you tried e-mailing the teacher? As a teacher, I was happy to e-mail homework home - children can do or learn the material if they don't have it at home. Not every teacher is willing to e-mail missing assignments but is she aware that your son forgets his words? Sometimes teachers can help come up with a solution - a 'backpack buddy' is one - a classmate friend who could help your son check his backpack every night as they leave for home.
Hi! My daughter's 5th grade class has a thing called a "tracker" in which the children are required to write out their daily homework assignments.
However, because of the incidences of forgotten handouts and books, we have had to take the responsibility upon ourselves to go into the classroom and check her tracker, go through her desk, make sure everything is in her bag, and speak to the teacher every day. Otherwise, she'll "forget" something or even hide things so she'll have more free time at night.
I suggest you take it upon yourself to make sure nothing is forgotten. Speak to the teachers every day, and make sure they know this is a problem and you are enlisting their help in keeping your child on task.
My kids' school (the International School of Tucson) has a daily "Blue Book". It is a book the teachers and we as parents use to communicate. The office, teachers and we check it every day and my kids are quite well-trained to remember it every day. Announcements, reminders, letters, notes are all put in the Blue Book and so are test notices and the daily homework. Though it is my child's responsibility to do her homework, I always know what it is. Maybe your teacher can do this too?
hi, sometimes your state has its own education website. info such as pacing charts, standards and even learning topics. your child is probably taking a state test this year, so the info should be posted on a website. however, it is always better to go directly to the source though-- his teacher because any other source of info may be inaccurate (teachers vary course materials by personal preference, class ability, etc).
Perhaps the Elementary School Parents Group would be of most interest, at community.greatschools.net/groups/11527, so you can "compare notes" to other 3rd grade parents
Hello, This is a nation wide forum, so your best bet would be to contact the school or your child's teacher. I would like to welcome you to the GreatSchool community. Hopefully you get a chance to browse through some of the groups that interest you on this site and stay a while. WELCOME!
