I am looking for best schools and neighborhood in the Albany, New York area (outside of the city). Any advice?

We are moving from Oakwood, Ohio which has public schools rated 10 and some of the best in the country. We are obviously looking for best schools but also a kid friendly and safe area. I have three young children (5, almost 4 and baby). This is also my first move, and it's accross the nation! Any moving advice....or any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Happy New Year!

Have you tried using the "Research and Compare" feature on the green menu bar near the top of this page? You enter your location and grade level and can see various schools in the area...you can then click on the individual school names to find out more details, read any previous parent reviews, etc.
Also, be aware that a "10" rating in one state doesn't mean your child will necessarily be learning the same material at a "10" school in another state, because their expectations may not be the same: community.greatschools.net/advice/184/Helpful-websites-when-seeking-info-about-HOW-SCHOOLS-COMPARE-STATE-TO-STATE-
