Hi, I'm brand new to this site but grew up here in Dayton. Many families live in Beavercreek due to it's proximity to the base. Are you here or transferrring in?
Thank you. I am transferring in July to start school at AFIT. We have 2 young daughters (5 and 3) and were wondering about the schools in the area. We were wanting to continue the Montessori schooling if there were any good options.
There are Montessori schools here and they have a good rep. The Beavercreek, Centerville and Oakwood are all good school districts here. Kettering is very close to the base also. You can't go wrong actually. We have several military families here in Centerville. You could gather info from any one of their websites and they'd be more than happy to help you decide.
My husband is at AFIT too. We tried public school in Beavercreek and switched to private. The school still is not challenging out 1st grader. If you decide to go with public or private (other then Montessori) just watch that the standards you are coming from aren't higher than OH bc your 5 year old will have a repeated year. We came from UT and our daughter went to full day private K. The 1st grades here are a review of last year and she is making great grades but hasn't learned anything. Good luck!!
Thank you all for the great advice. Looking forward to the next couple of years.
