? for elementary in SUSD

TracyS
My son will be starting kindergarten in the fall. Looking at Cheyenne, Sonoran sky, Cochise and Laguna. I've reviewed the test scores, parent reviews and have visited but still conflicted. Does anyone have some words of wisdom. It's hard to know what is best before they even start. Every child is so different.

I can only speak to Sonoran Sky, but it is FABULOUS. We transferred there from another public school in North Scottsdale, and could not be happier. Sonoran Sky houses the PVUSD "gifted" program, and all kids benefit from this program with more creative-thinking projects and better differentiation -- your kid will not be held back, and slower learners are encouraged and tutored. The parents are warm and welcoming. And the school has a character-development program, too, that includes a zero tolerance for bullies. We could not be happier. But the word is out, and the school is nearly full, so call and see if open enrollment is still an option. If not, I'd move to be in this school district -- it's the best in Arizona for a bargain price. That's why there are so many of us out-of-district families (families commute as far as an hour each way to get to SSES -- that says more than any number about the quality of this school in all regards).

I actually submitted an application this year as well as looking at Laguna, Cochise and Sonoran Sky. Thanks for the input.

We have friends that go to Cheyene and love it! The problem is that they use this crazy lottery system to get in there. Good luck!
