We are living in Taiwan now but will move to Honolulu in July 2009. I do need help choosing a good school with great ESL for young grade. My daugther is a 2nd grader in Taiwan.

Hi! I do live in Kailua, Windward Side of Hawaii and there is in Lanikai Elementary a Chinese translator that can help you with your kid. Hope this help you
In Hawaii the program for ESL (English Second Language) is ELL (English Language Learner). The best way is to ask another ESL/ELL parent in the area you plan to move to. Staffing for ESL/ELL changes at each school periodically, so you may need to be in Hawaii and go to visit schools to really find out what school will best meet your daughter's needs.

I don't live in HI, but I wanted to tell you about the "Research and Compare" feature on the green menu bar near the top of this page...you can enter a location and grade level (2nd grade is part of elementary school) and it will tell you about schools in that area. If you click on the individual names of schools, you can find out more details. In the U.S., most times the address of where you live determines which local school your child will attend, so if you find a school you like, you might want to visit it when you get to the U.S., and then buy or rent a home that's within its attendance boundaries.
