We live in the South Dade area near the Falls, Palmetto Bay and Pinecrest. All are nice areas with great schools - just depends on your budget for a home. Pinecrest is at the high end and South Palmetto Bay is more affordable. Palmetto (public) and Coral Reef (public magnet) high schools are academically among the best in the state and were both ranked in US News best high schools. Coral Reef also offers an IB program in addition to the magnet offerings.
Palmetto is more affluent and brings some of the negatives that can sometimes accompany that. Some kids might have a hard time there if they are not "mainstream types". Coral Reef is much more diverse and inclusive IMO. Both my husband and I are Palmetto graduates and we are hoping our kids can get accepted at Coral Reef.
Very family-oriented suburban area with large lots and nice neighborhoods. We love it, but If you are more of a beach or city person then you might like MBHS more.

Doral is a nice place, don't get me wrong, but it seems too boring for my taste. It is in fact very beautiful, but for some reason it reminds me of Orlando. I guess I'm used to the Westchester area! :D
I'd say Doral is the best city for families. You have everything around for kids. Great schools and wonderful after school activities.
Sure, Miami Beach Senior is a good school, I wouldn't say thee best, but it is a good school. Over all, I'm not too sure about what high school would be ideal for architecture but I could look into it.
As for a residence to move into, I believe that around the Hammocks area or the Kendall or Westchester area are fantastic! Personally I live in Westchester and honestly have nothing to complain about. The areas are, however, generalized basically in where you are from. We have locations, just like in California, where it is mostly Nicaraguan, some where it is mostly Cuban, some where it is mostly Haitians, some Columbia's, Argentinians, etc. I don't know if that is a factor for you but I believe that anywhere you decide to live in is a good area. There are some not so good ones such as "The Pork and Beans" area, which tends to provide to the less income Miamis, or Little Havana.

Thank you for the information. I will definitely look into it. Next week, I am previewing some of the schools. someone told me "Miami Beach Senior High School" is the best in Miami. What is your input on this? I have a son who wants to become an architect. But right now, he is an ordinary kid who doesn't really have a special interest in any particular field of study. I was looking into Design and Architecture Senior High School BUT, the school requires many prerequisites, such as your 5 PORTFOLIOs which we can not provide for at this moment. Therefore, we need to just find him a school where he would feel comfortable for easy adjustment. Based on the selection of his school, we would like to decide to which area to buy the house. Do you have any recommendations for a good neighborhood?
