We are wondering which school districts around the valley have the best special ed preschool programs?

CrandellQuads
We have 3 year, 9 month old quadruplets with special needs (Autism, bi-polar, ADHD, ODD) as well as some moderate developmental delays (speech, sensory, processing, gross and fine motor, etc) and are looking for the best school districts in the valley that offer developmental preschool.

We currently live in Deer Valley school district but aren't too pleased with their services and have the opportunity to relocate our family int eh next few months to a new district.

If anyone has some input as to which are the best districts and which to avoid for children with special needs, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you!

Thank you!

I remembered the name of the "foundation" division who was who I spoke with at Easter Seals when we thought our son was having developmental issues. It's the Blake Foundation. You might even be able to look them up directly. But still call the Easter Seals too because I think they have more resources available than just the one.

Thank you for the suggestion! I am going to call them next week. I have to get busy with getting better services thru the school as well as the state if and when I can get them out to do their evaluation. My Autistic son Julian is really struggling and is getting worse and I am at a loss as to what to do. I also appreciate your willingness to ask your friend and will watch out for your email. Thank you and Happy New Year!!

Have you contacted the Easter Seals? Surprisingly, they have a division (for lack of a better term) that deals only in early childhood developmental disorders, specifically Autism Spectrum, and they might be able to assist you.

I'm in Tucson. I wish I could be of more help as to districts in the Valley, but I don't know anything. I do know a now retired early childhood teacher who specialized in childhood developmental disorders in Phoenix however, and I can see if she knows of one district that might have a better reputation than another. I will send you a private message if I find out anything. It won't be until the weekend until I speak with her next and I'll be sure to ask her then.

Hi. I'm not from AZ, but I do have a child with some special ed issues. Unfortunately, Greatschools is a nationwide forum, and the chance of finding another family from the same city, with children roughly the same age and with similar diagnoses is slim...I always advise parents to try and network through a support group in the area, to find out what other families recommend as far as schools and local resources. I'm not sure if www.thearc.org has AZ representatives who can help you, but I know they assist families with Autism in my area. I also know groups like www.chadd.org address ADHD/ODD issues, and www.bpkids.org has advice for families dealing with bipolar.
For general info on schools in the Phoenix area, perhaps this previous conversation will be helpful:
