My daughter has been asking to be homeschooled. We live in Loudoun County. She is probably reading at kindergarten level and doing second grade math. Any advice would be appreciated.
Homeschooling can be great but it is a significant commitment to ensure your daughter gets the academic and social skills she needs. If it is a good fit for your family then that is great. Loudoun county has such good schools that you may want to have her try school for a year or so to make sure it isn't just separation anxiety driving her desire to be homeschooled. My kids have made so many friends at school and are much more socially active within our neighborhood because of all the friends they made through school that I think, in our case, they would be missing out if they were homeschooled. Either way, what is right for your family is what is important.
Rules for homeschooling vary by state. The good news is that Greatschools has a Group that can offer you a great deal of additional information and support, at community.greatschools.net/groups/11543
