We are not sure exactly which part we would be moving to, however we are looking at Westchester, Eastchester, Astoria and Pelham so far. I am a little confused which part of New Jersey should I look at so that commuting to Manhanttan where my husband would be working would be relatively easy.
If you click on the "Research and Compare" tab, located on the green menu bar near the top of this page, you will be able to enter the town and grade level of schools that you are interested in, and you can see how the schools do, as far as average academic performance scores on state testing. They don't rate safety issues, but once you identify schools that you are interested in, you could always call the school and ask about it, or ask them which local police department they're located near, so you can call the police to ask about crime statistics in the neighborhood.
what part of NY are you moving to? NY is a big state and just like everywhere you have your good parts and bad. It depends on where you live as to what school your children will attend. I would look carefully around the neighborhood you are thinking about. Look at the children and how they behave. Find out what school you will be discricted for and tour the school. You can get a good feel for it that way. I would also look up the school here on great schools. It will tell you all different stats on it. Good luck!!
