Private testing for CAT program?

srinik
I am planning on gettng my daughter tested for the Chandler gifted program (CATS). I am told scores from private testing are also accepted. Do you know of a place for such provate testing whose scores have been accepted by the Chandler schhol district?

Thanks.

Healhy11,

Thanks a lot for your prompt response.

Our school district requires COGAT testing and a 97th percentile or better in at least one area. I will talk to some local psychologists.

I have already signed up for the Gifted group. Thanks for the invite.

Regards,

Srini

I'm not from AZ, but I would think most psychologists could do necessary testing, if you're just talking about an IQ and achievement instrument, like the WISC and WIAT.

The safest thing is to contact the gifted coordinator for your district, and ask what testing they require. Some schools would only ask for proof of IQ above 125 or 130, while others might want achievement testing that shows scores above the 95th percentile. Some schools would say there has to be high performance in particular areas (ie, reading and math) but other school districts would say high achievement in any one area would be enough for eligibility.

For general information, I'd like to invite you to join Greatschools Gifted Parents Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11537
