Hi alicepin,

Here's the California Department of Education website listing the Charter Schools in LA County: www.cde.ca.gov/ds/si/cs/ap1/countyresults.aspx?id=19 You can use the list to narrow down the ones in downtown you're looking for.

In addition, here's the Magnet brochure listing even more schools that might be an option for you: echoices.lausd.net/ Just be aware that the magnet deadline is January 9th.

Another option would be SAS schools. The Schools for Advanced Studies are listed here: sfpc.lausd.k12.ca.us/GATE/prog-opt-3.html

And finally, you don't list your neighborhood school, but you might want to check it out. A lot of schools are experiencing a great revival due to dedicated parents going into the schools and creating the environment they want for their kids.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide.
