Personally, I know of a lot of unhappy teachers at Amelia. There is not a good team over there. You need a good team atmosphere. I don't know enough about Carter, but personally again, wouldn't choose it, but it has only been word of mouth mainly from neighbors, nothing concrete, in other words, no actual proof.

My favorite public elementary school is James Monroe. Great principal, the teachers all work as a team, the support staff all work together, the kids are happy and their scores keep rising and rising. It isn't one of the newest shiniest schools, but if the learning going on inside is fabulous, who cares what the outside looks like.

The ratings given on this site are dead on as far as I'm concerned for this area. If I was in Palm Desert I would get in the Carter Elementary boundary. I'm in La Quinta, and my daughter attends Amelia Earhart, which is the only IB elementary school out here. Either one would be great for you IMO.

Hello davidsmommy, and welcome to GreatSchools!

Located just above, you'll see "Research & Compare" located in the green bar. Click there, and you'll be directed to another menu, where you can type in the city and ZIP code. A list of schools will come up. From there, you can check out each school, and even compare the schools you've chosen.

Good luck in your search, and we hope to see you again!
