Welcome! I would also like to invite you to post and join at the "Learning and Attention Difficulties" group mentioned by healthy11.
Perhaps when you post there, you could provide us with some additional information about your son's challenges and your specific concerns. In this way others will be able to provide specific feedback and suggestions that might be useful.
Hi. Unfortunately, Greatschools is a nationwide forum. Although your question is categorized for Albuquerque, NM, the chance of finding another person from the same area, with a child of similar age and with similar circumstances, is slim.
My experience with special ed is that a lot depends on the type of diagnosis a student has...(I'm not in NM, but my district is known for good programs for kids with physical disabilities and with speech/language issues, however they don't really do a very good job with kids who have ADHD or dyslexia.)
Unless school districts in NM operate differently than most, you probably can't "choose" which school your child will attend...most schools have their own special ed programs on site, and unless you can show it's inappropriate (by failure to make progress over time) they will likely place your child at their "home" school.
Although I'm not sure what LD your child has, I'd like to invite you to join Greatschools Learning and Attention Difficulties Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11554, where many more parents can relate to having a child with special ed needs.
