Is anyone familiar with great elementary schools in the New Orleans East area?

My 10 year old son will be coming to New Orleans in June from Folcroft, PA and I am looking for a good school to enroll him in beginning 2009. Are there schools which accept children residing in the New Orleans East area that provide bus transportation?
