I can offer a different perspective as someone who taught at a charter school. A lot of it depends on what your daughter is interested in and good at--but either way, let me share what I observed:
The charter school I was at was really cool. The school was housed at the local community college, and students graduated with a high school diploma and an associate's degree. (They were eligable to take college-level courses at the community college during their junior year of high school.) Classes were much smaller than what most of the students were used to at their public schools and it went at a faster, more adult pace. The topics discussed were definitely geared toward mature students.
A lot of the students in my class switched to the charter school because they didn't fit in at their public schools. A lot of them were "nerds" who got picked on by the "cool" kids. The college environment was really good for them because it wasn't about being popular or wearing the right clothes. They were surrounded by young adults who were really enthusiastic about education.
I also saw a lot of students from different ethnic and religious backgrounds at the charter school. The parents of these students wanted them in a more diverse environment than what the local public schools could offer. I think they were concerned that they'd get picked on for their backgrounds or beliefs.
If the charter schools you're looking at are anything like the charter school I taught at, it may be the right choice for your daughter.
As sbozarth23 mentioned, it would be helpful to know more about your daughter....What DOES she enjoy doing? From what little you've shared, I doubt a charter school would make much difference in her motivation towards school... You mention she never has shown any....Have you ever had her tested for learning disabilities, or considered private counseling for her?
As for your question, could you give us some more details? I saw that you joined the high school group so I assume your daughter is a least a freshman? How is lack of ambition effecting her entire life? It would be much easier to answer your question if we could just know a little more.
