In addition to contacting your school regarding after school programs, you might want to check with your local YMCA, they usually offer after school programs for kids up through the 6th grade. In addition, do you have a Boys & Girls Club in your area? If so, they may offer an after school program as well.
It depends on the age of your child. They have three different places on base where you children can go based on age. There is the Child Development Center, the Youth Center, and the Teen Center. All of them close at 6:00 though so you might have to make an adjustment to your schedule. Contact the Youth Center at 661-255-KIDS and they can give you more information about all of the programs.
STAR Education is a pretty well known program now that includes some tutoring after school, as well as yoga, art , dance, till about 6pm. You should see if your school offers it. It is becoming pretty popular now and have been seeing it in many schools around Los Angeles.
