TeacherParent, if you read the previous responses, on November 29, betterlife mentioned living in Ohio.

You can absolutely get an on-line high school diploma these days - if you're share what state you live in, we can look up your state's requirements for high school graduation and find you some online programs but know it's certainly possible for you to get your degree these days without sitting in classes.

Betterlife: I applaud you for your desire to get a high school diploma and build a career doing nails.

However, now that you are 21, it's up to you. So, step one, if you still live in Ohio, you need to contact your former high school -- the people who told you that you had until you were 23 years old. They're the ones who can clarify your first question. They're also the ones who can assist you in locating an online program for either completion of your diploma or a GED. As I understand it, either document will get you into nail school, which is your goal.

Now, if you're living in a different state, the path will be a bit different. You'll need to contact the local community college and ask them how you can go about earning a GED. I don't know what online opportunities are available -- you'll have to speak with them.

Have you ever tried going to an adult school, you could get either or or high school diploma or GED . Depends on how many credits you need. If you need alot of credits then you'd probably be advised to get GED, however if only need a little bit of credits you'd be advised to get HS diploma. But, it's ultimately up to you and what you choose for youself. keep in mind the GED is equivalent to a high school diploma.
Good luck to you and remember when you want something bad enough you'll find a way to get it. Study and go back to school.

Betterlife, Who is "they" that said you have until age 23? Do you know if you had an IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) in high school? If you had an IEP and didn't graduate, you might be covered until age 22 (21 years and 364 days) by IDEA, but I'm not aware of any state that would cover you until age 23. I don't live in Ohio, though, so you really need to talk to the school person who told you you have until 23.

Betterlife: Why did they tell you that you have until you are 23? And what exactly did they tell you? Finally, are you speaking about Lancaster, PA or Lancaster, CA?

You both need to consider getting your GED degree...it's meant for people who have left high school without a diploma, and now want to finish schooling....Please read this past discussion on the topic, and then follow the links for more information (every state has slightly different requirements): community.greatschools.net/q-and-a/141439/How-do-enroll-for-a-GED?cpage=1#comment_152699
