Yes, if the grandmother goes with you to the district office of pupil personnel. You and she will have to sign a Grandparent Affidavit stating that the grandparent helps with childcare on a consistent basis throughout the year. You will need to state how many hours per week the grandparent takes care of the student. It doesn't have to be that much. Ask them. Also, they will not provide transportation and won't make exceptions. It's a budget thing more than anything else. Once you've gone there for the first semester, change to the School Choice form in early spring. Must be submitted by end of February or March. Grandparent Affidavits have to be renewed each year. School Choice requests carry over year to year once approved.
