I wanto improve my son's academic skill

vasantha
My son currently enrolled in Life Skill Program with basic Maths and Language Arts in Lymbrook school. I am more interested in developing his academic skills. He is very much interested in Science and scored A+ in Middle school. The High School Program going to teach only Life Skill Program for 4 years; which is annoying me and I am afraid my son will loose all his academic skills. How can I prepare for his college?. Is there any alternative school available?.

My son is thriving at Mid-Peninsula High School! His teachers are leaders in their classrooms who make the students want to learn. Small classroom sizes allow teachers to make a connection with each student and know if they are paying attention (or not). There is a strong emphasis on academics, independence and strengthening family connections. Students attend from all over the bay area. My son takes Cal-Train from Santa Clara. It is a great school!

Thanks for providing the information. Contacted K12 Program coordinator and waiting for details.

Hi. I'm not familiar with Lymbrook H.S., but have you asked your son's counselor/IEP team why he is only in a Life Skill Program? I know California has some type of graduation exit requirements in order to get a diploma, and I wonder if they are even trying to give him an opportunity to pass it, or if he will just get a certificate of completion?
I would really urge you to ask those questions of your son's counselor/case manager, and I'd also recommend that you join Greatschools Learning and Attention Difficulties Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11554, where more parents of kids with special education needs can advise you.

Its not for everyone, but it works well for us. Check out k12.com. This is a free public home school program allowing your son to move as fast or as slow as he wants.
Good Luck
