1st grade 100 jumping jacks in class

mother01
Is a 1st grade teacher allowed to punish a student who voluntary does AR test by doing100 jumping jacks inside the classroom, in front of all the other students?

Is this a child abuse, isn't it???

Hi mother01,

As for your question, was this your child who was forced to do jumping jacks? Have you spoken to the principal or the superintendent about this situation? Humiliation and forced exercise is abuse of power and doesn't teach a child anything. This teacher needs to be put on notice immediately, and if your child is in his/her class I would insist on moving them to another classroom.

Yes, it's wrong.

And jumping jacks, by the way, are a real dumb exercise. They mimic NOTHING a human will ever do in life. They really are a waste of time as a warm up exercise. Google this topic and learn about static vs dynamic stretches and warm ups.

PS I'm a karateka of 40 years and I won't do the Kyokushinkai or most any other schools' warm ups as they are usually old fashioned and have no relation to modern exercise physiology. As a sr black belt I do it differently when I teach.

Thank you. I did have a meeting with Principal and her teacher yesterday. Principal is very professional, but NOT the teacher. What SHOULD I DO??
