dose any one else think that there should be another adult on the school buses?

i think that kids need to have better supervision on buses ! the driver cant possibly be responsible to watch them and drive.this is our childrens safety were talking about!and having other kids be bus patrols,,,in my experience has not been very productive, and i think has been responsible for many foghts!

I can't believe how out of control things have become! Not to mention, costly! Our buses have cameras and now they are adding audio! I don't feel it replaces an adult being present. I do feel it has gotten to the point that we need both aides and surveillance because like activa said who would want to do it? I would not want to be an aide or a parent on the school bus without cameras and recordings!
I know one thing we would have never have gotten away with bad behavior at school or on the bus! It happened from time to time but you got punished at home!

I believe 2 adults needed to watch out for children. one adult in the front and one adult in the back. that would allow the bus driver to be better drivers.a total of 3 adults on the bus.

You're right - I'd be surprised if any parent would disagree with this. The drivers of buses are there to drive - they can't also be responsible for helping the kids to stay still, behave well and smooth over difficulties. And some children these days have long bus rides - the kids get bored and restless on their buses and that's when troubles can break out.

I'm wondering if any districts out there would allow parents to volunteer to ride the buses? Ideally, the districts would hire trained aide to do this job but waiting for districts to do the right thing sometimes leaves us waiting for a long time.

i think there should be another adult on bus.my daughter goes to public school,and she says the bus driver always has to pull over because the kids are always fighting and not staying in there seat,and giving the bus driver alot of hassle.

i agree with proverbs31. what i hear from my kids about the bus ride, is not good. there always fights, there a lot of bad behavior and bed attitude towards driver. kids say bed words and offend other kids and yes, there are fights. from what i hear, i am defiantly convinced we need bus patrols. but who would want to do it? if in class students give hard time to teachers, i can only imagine how difficult it would be to control them after school.
