Is there a site where I can find the history of open enrollment in a school?

lrlatina
Just wondering if there is a site where you can see if the school itself ever has open enrollments and how many spots were there. I thought it would be a good way of narrowing down schools that don't offer open enrollments or have a huge turnout.

kingfish,

I responded to your other question, but the best place to find out about specific schools' special education programs is to contact them directly. At this point, it's hard to know which schools will have open enrollment, but you can use previous years' open enrollment announcements to guestimate how many spots might be available and at which schools so you can contact schools within your area.

Thanks for helpful information. Is there any way to find out schools with open enrollment which has special education program? I am particularly interested in SLD program for kids with learning disabilities. The resource specialist in my district completely ignores parents and the only way to receive information to call to the schools but they do not always want to talk and usually refer me to the resource specialist.

Thank you both! I did mean LAUSD. Thank you for the info, I will search on their site for the information. Much appreciated!

Hi lrlatina,

I'm not sure if you're referring to Los Angeles Unified or another Los Angeles district, but LAUSD does keep the histories of open enrollment in their announcments archive. Just keep in mind that open enrollment spots can vary wildly year to year.

You go to lausd.net, click on "Families," then you'll see the Annoucements. Right under the title is "announcement search." Click that, and then type in Open Enrollment, and make sure you click "archived/expired"

Then you will see announcements from the previous few years--like from 2004 on. You'll click each link and then look in each press release for something that says "click here for a list of schools" or something close to that. Some years, the schools are broken out by subdistrict, and other years, they're just listed alphabetically.

If I've totally confused you, send me a private message and I'll do my best to walk/talk you through it.

Good luck, and let me know how it goes.

Not that I know of, I think you would have to go to the school of your interest and ask if there is an open enrollment. Are you refering to a private school?
