What can I do at home to help my son (1st grader) focus in the classroom?

Nickray
The teacher says he's really bright and is doing very well with in-class assignments and tests. But has trouble concentrating and focusing. She's labeled him as the class clown. I would like to take a positive approach with this. What can I do? Also my husband is very furious and is just very negative. He feels I'm not as firm with him as I should be but I feel we need a plan and his behavior cannot occur overnight. I know my son will improve.

First of all, most kids don't cause trouble in school without a reason. As laura1967 mentioned, your son could be bored with the level of material in the class. It's also possible that he has an attention issue.

How has his behavior been before first grade?

How is his sleep?
