Unfortunately, I don't live in Georgia, but this link to the Georgia Department of Education will probably answer your testing questions: www.doe.k12.ga.us/

From what you're saying, yes, students age 16 are typically in Grade 10 (also called high school sophomores) in the U.S.

Hi. It's Buford in GA. Do you know if graduation tests are needed in Georgia ? What year are grad tests carried out ? My kids are Year 11 in the UK system, but I believe that makes them Year 10 in the US. They are 16 this academic year. And yes the term High School threw me for a bit, but I understand it now, it's the equivalent to the upper part of our Secondary/Senior School years.

Hi. In the U.S., there are several towns named Buford (in different states: South Carolina, Georgia, and Texas, possibly more.) Each state is also allowed to establish different educational guidelines, so you might find that "graduation tests" are required in one place (like Texas) but not in another state.

What age/grade level is your child currently in?
Some years ago, a U.K. family from my husband's company moved to our area, and one of the things I specificially remember was how the terminology of "high school" means different things in our countries. In the U.S., it's generally grades 9-12.
