I have a son who will be in the 2nd grade. Now that summer is here and there is less hurrying around. I have found that when i slow myself and own thoughts down, i am able to really tune into my child more. The difference in behavior is like night and day. Also, try really hard to not raise your voice and speak to him like you would a friend. They're now at an age where we can reason with them more. Try it! And goodluck to you! :)

As suggested, you should definitely start at the pediatricians office. He can best point you in the right direction after making sure there is nothing medically wrong.

How old is your son? Is this new? Have you tried 3, 2, 1 (a book about discipline)? Any changes? New siblings? Need more details...

Hi, in addition to the inquries posted, I would talk to his primary care provider about obtaining some baseline lab tests, such as, but not limited to: Hemoglobin A1c and a comprehensive thyroid profile. I have seen similar behaviors displayed when there has beeen some type of health deficit with the client and was mistakenly diagnosed as a behavior disorder, etc. Just something to consider, and I hope that this helps.

Is this a new situation that's started since the bus incidents?
Could he just be acting out because he's picked on at school and the bus?
I've seen kids who have been bullied start to display this behavior before. It's a serious thing. Good luck-let us know how things work out.
