My son is missing out on being a normal activechild because ofbullying-what can I do?I am heartbroken for him

monpetiteamour
I am worried about my son. He gets picked on and bullied frequently and in fact, does not even go outside anymore. He wants to avoid getting picked on and hit. He is a great kid; very sweet and thoughtful, intelligent and funny. He is overweight which targets him to get bullied.I enrolled him in Tae Kwon Do to help increase his self-esteem and defend himself(2 months now), but he still is not confident handling these situations. He is scared and seems weak mentally.I am very supportive of him and he has no problem coming to me and telling me what goes on. I advocate for him fiercly, but other parents do not care and get so defensive. They do not want to hear complaints about their own kids.We are very isolated and alone. Me with the parents and my son with the kids. I am sick of him coming home crying because he got hit and nobody caring. He spends all his free time watching Tv and playing video games while we can hear the kids outside running around having a good time. What should I do?

Sometimes isolation is way better than a group of obnoxiousness. My nephew went through the same thing. Not bullying, but isolation. I told him to become a leader, not a follower.Start your own activity up. Let your kid know that those kids need someone to pay attention to them because they are the lonely ones.

The result: A strong kid who needs no one's friendship. They come to him now. In tae kwon do, you have to take orders, listen to your teacher. Get him involved where he is the leader. However, martial arts is good.
When those kids start seeing your child is strong without anyone, they will start to tag-a-long. But it will be too late. LOL.

Become your son's best friend. Eventually, he'll find another person that will feel the same way he does.

Then I would warn the parents that he's going outside to play by himself, and to leave him alone. And if something happens to him, I will hold you responsible. Because now you know what's going on, and there's no excuse for you.(The best way to hurt a person is in their wallets. They'll listen once they have to answer to authorities and explain why they didn't do something to prevent this.)

As long as they don't touch him, he's fine. I was an isolated kid once. I can relate. He'll be fine. Just continue to show your support for him.

Sounds like he has low-self esteem, keep reminding him what a great kid he is. Put him in other things besides Tae Kwon Do. Have a meeting with his teacher about the bullying maybe the school could have an assembly about bullying and its side affects.
