Besides the teacher, who else should I talk to if my son comes home from school with a bump on his corner eye?

peanut03
My son came home from school last friday with a bump on the corner of his right eye. Although the sitter told me what happened, I expect a call from the teacher or the school nurse explaining what happen and what kind of care my son received from the nurses office but, I did not receive any call just to notify me or any of my son's emergency contact. This is really pissing me off because this is not the first time that my son comes home with scratches here and there, and his teacher never spare a minute or two to call me just to inform me about the incident.

Sometimes boys don,t want a parent to become involved. They get even more guff from other boys about saying anything. Ones thing for sure keep the lines of communication open. Find out from him what the true story is. Will he be embarrassed if you pursue this. But on the other hand there is a criteria your limit, when you feel that from what you feel in your heart ,and based on knowing him something is amiss

I am confused. Did the school tell the sitter about the incident - or did you son? It is standard procedure for the school to notify the parent - or caregiver - about such injuries. Usually the school nurse is the contact person. Could this incident have occurred at recess - and not reported to anyone - or even on the way home? What information was your son able to provide?

Boys will be boys, and by that I mean they get bumps and scrapes here and there. 2yrs ago another kid cut my sons finger with the scissors I got a call from the school, I left work and had to go get him and take him to the doctor. I am very glad they called me. Maybe you should call the school and ask what the rules are for kids when they get hurt. Or maybe you need to tell your son when he gets hurt to tell the nurse, teacher, or who ever is tending to him that he wants to call you. I think at the very least the school should have notified you by a written note this might have eased your uneasy feeling about the situation. Call and let them now that you would appriciapte it if next time they'd call you or send you a note about what happend.
