It all depends on what you are looking for. We ended up where we are in Charlotte using the tool mentioned by "healthy11" We were in McKee Elementary for 2 yrs and we loved the school, it was very crowded at the time, which I believe has been resolved, but loved it anyway. We are at a new school now, Polo Ridge, again a great school, different from McKee, but a good school. Not super diversified, but again it all depends on what it important to you family. Good Luck in your search...

There are many different things to look for in schools, so it is hard to say which is the best without knowing your criteria.

We chose Smithfield Elementary because of its friendly, caring staff and philosophy of teaching each child as an individual. That means that kids learn on their own level regardless of what it is through flexible grouping and creative lessons. My children are very different in their interests in learning styles and each gets what he needs. They are thriving at Smithfield!

We also value diversity and wanted a school where our kids could have friends of different races and economic groups. Smithfield meets this need very well. My kids have positive interactions with kids whose lives are not just like theirs. They have friends from different countries too, and that has made them exited to travel and to learn a foreign language (or two).

Have you tried using the "Research and Compare" tool on the green menu bar near the top of this page? If you click on it, and enter your city, state, and grade level, you'll see a listing with ratings of the various schools in the area. There's also a "Local Q&A" section, where you might get some response...
