Anyone know of any good pre-K's that don't cost a small fortune? $12k is a lot of money i think to put a 4 year old through school...

Welcome to reality. Preschool costs are equivalent to college costs around here. You have to decide if the preschool is worth spending a college tuition for it. Some elementary schools have a day care/preschool program right in the school (run by a private non-affiliated business). Also, check out some of the local churches or synagogues to see what they have. Just because a preschool is located in a church does not mean they teach religion.
