Autism: Any one out there who can recommend an elem school that employs ABA/Verbal Behavior

What problems are parents of children diagnosed with Autism facing in Stafford COunty Public Schools. Are methodologies proven to help children with Autism adopted or is there a battle to get the appropriate education for this growing segment of the school population.

I'm in Stafford and I feel they are reluctant in many ways to find a child eligible under autism. Pass that hurdle first and then they will determine whether the child's needs can be met at your zoned school or one of the schools with an autism class.

There was a recent article in the Washington Post (8/17/09) regarding Stafford Public Schools and how special education is run. With 16 of 30 schools not meeting the AYP I think there will be even less funding for special ed.

Im not in stafford, we're in spotys but I can tell you that to find a good program is hard pressed around here IMO. This is from someone coming from a very progressive state though in terms of autism so it could be why.
