I'm not sure about the #'s, but I can tell you that you would have to experience these schools before knowing how great (or horrible) they are. We are in Middletown (Newport County) and I was horrified about the schools here. I can tell you that the #'s and the actual schools scared me. Not to mention, they have no funding at all and most schools are very old! But I now know that i can't judge a book by it's cover. I love the school's my daughters are going to and I would not change a thing. They are doing better here then they were doing in Auburn City schools, which is ranked in the top 10 in the country. It's what the staff does with what they have that makes the difference. We do have some problems with the grading system of the middle school and one particular teacher, which are problems shared by many parents. But all in all, it's been wonderful!!!!! Hope this helps some!
