bag stolen in school, another kid now using my daughter's bag..how far do you go??

Anonymous
last week my daughter's bag was stolen at school. phone ,house keys, wallet, personal items, calculator,( the $130 expensive kind for advanced algebra) notebooks, sunglasses, and makeup bag. the police were called, and report filed. because of this, the phone contract was cancelled, the house locks had to be changed, and the personal items replaced. these things cost money, especially having the locks changed.. and replacement of the calculator.

a few day's later, after i replaced the missing needed items, everything was found dumped in a school trash can.
this week a kid comes to school with my daughter's bag, one of the teacher's recognized it and she called the cops again to make another report..
my daughter's name was in the bag..
is suspension and taken off the cheerleading, and soccer squad enough?
or do you take it further... like have the kid pay the cost of replacing the items, or do let the law handel it, press charges and go to court?

I think this kid went thru a lot already, mostly being embarrased by stealing and has to be kicked out of activities it should be enough punishment hopefully.I hope with this, this kid would understand that stealing from somebody else is really BAD!.

I think the gal learned he lesson, getting kicked off any type of club or school organization is just embarrassing not to mention getting kicked off for stealing. I'd be humiliated if I was that brat girl-I am sure all the girls are talking about it how they can't trust her oh yes I am almost certain she has lost some friends, not to mention the respect of the teacher who called the cops. it's a personal choice you can choose to do what you feel is best for your situation.

Well, the school is handling it with suspension and removal from sports teams. That's their punishment for stealing on school property.

At this point, since the police have been called and reports have been filed, if you want to pursue this further, you should handle it through legal channels. If you try to make the kid pay on your own it could get messy.
