Contact the school you are interested in. Some will be very rigid about age, others will base admittance on ability.

Depends on the private school. The earliest I've seen is 5 years old by 6/1 (e.g., John Thomas Dye) but most seem to be 7/1 (e.g., Brentwood, Curtis) and 9/1 (e.g., Buckley, Crossroads, Campbell).

The age for entering kindergarten in public schools varies state by state. I would think it would be the same for private and would probably vary from school to school. You would have to check with your state and with the school you are interested in.

cut off is different for different private schools: September 1 or October 1. For boys, read that they have to be born by June 1 to get in. for public schools it is December 2.
