How do I enroll my daughter @ Paxton high school as we are currently in Nassau county?

CLRawson
My son attended Douglas School of the Arts when we moved here in 1996 and we applied to that school and he was accepted via a audition tape.... For my daughter (above for Paxton), she is attending Callahan Middle school, 8th grade. She is an exceptional student (straight A's for the last two years, in the gifted program and accelerated courses offered for the 8th grade. She would highly benefit by attending a school more geared towards college bound students who need a challenge. The WNHS was a D school last year and was promoted to B/C for this year but the quality of students do not match her potential. Her FCATS are in the 99% and she has attended the National Jr leaders conference in Washington DC. With all that, does she need to take an entrance test or a PSAT and do I need to obtain any "exception" letters or recommendations? I understand that transportation to/from would be my responsibility. Please advise.

To get into Paxon (or Stanton) for IB, you have to be invited, and then be at the top of the heap based on your 7th & 8th grade grades, FCAT scores and personal statement. (Each school takes 150 IB students/year.) But IB is the only merit-based acceptance option. To get into either school as AP/Honors, you have to go through the magnet lottery. I'm not sure you'll be eligible, though, since you're in Nassau County. Call the magnet office to check.

I'm trying to get my child into Darnell. She is an exceptional student as well. I called the district who told me that it's a lottery. You can go to magnetprograms.com and view the application process and how they determine who gets accepted first, etc. Unfortunately, has NOTHING to do with test grades. Sad, huh?
