My first grader started crying when I left her at school. She's say it's because she misses me.

She went to kinder at another school and never had a problem with me leaving her there. She even started crying this Sunday saying she didn't't want to go to school. I'm trying not to lose my cool with her but, it's starting to stress me out.

I agree with healthy11, this is due to a new enviroment . My girls did the same thing. Thats how I started volunteering at the school. I wanted to see how they would adjust to it. After being there for a few days, I started to leave the class room and just peak in on them . They started not to miss me and it worked our great. So try not to worry it gets better. I'd recommend this as well giving it all a bit more time before getting too worried.

If this was just her first week of classes, I'd recommend giving it all a bit more time before getting too worried. Transitions from being home all summer can be difficult. Although she says she misses you, is there something else going on? Did you move and that's why she's at a new school? Did you have some sort of major life-change, like a divorce? I'm wondering if it's just that she doesn't know many kids yet, so she misses old friends as well. Or perhaps the academic work load is harder, and it's not as much "fun" as being in kindergarten was? Have you asked her teacher how she acts once class starts, or if there are other kids teasing her?
