He has never been separated from his family. What can we tell him to get him to like, or accept school? He crys when we drop him off and says hes sad at school..once hes in class, hes ok. He listens and is well behaved in class.

Don't worry. It probably breaks your heart more than it breaks his. Once he learns that you will always come back for him, he will be better. And in a few weeks he will be so excited to see his friends in class that he will look forward to going. Fortunately when he gets older, he will never remember how much he cried. And unfortunately you will never forget. Good Luck

Which is why it's not a great idea to never be seperated until Kindergarten.......he will really need time to adjust from being seperated.
My advise.......be strong for him, reassure him that you will be there right when he gets out and remind him of how much fun he has - BE POSITIVE!!!!
He'll do great!

Chrisnkev already said what I was going to say...it's just going to take him time to adjust...For additional advice and support, you might find it helpful to join Greatschools Kindergarten Parents Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11535

Hi. Separation anxiety is normal if he has never been away from his family. Emotional and Social interaction are important for children. It may take him a couple weeks to adapt, but he should be ok. I know it may be heart breaking to see the big crocodile tears, but maybe once friends are made, he can invite one over for a few hours, that way he can bond with at least one friend he could feel comfortable around.
