Is a California school’s API score a fair reflection of its quality?

tjlove
API scores have big consequences for California schools. API scores are determined by a very complicated set of calculations that is tweaked just about every year. Does the California Department of Education have it right?

The new 2008 Growth API results were posted on the GreatSchools Web site just as soon as they were released on 9/4/08. Here's a link to the GreatSchools California API results page.

You can find your school's scores as well as compare scores from school to school.
