Are there any groups for Dads who are NOT divorced and live with their kids???

cavarga
I am new to this site and can only find groups for Non-Residential Dads, and Father's Rights... What about the handful of us that are still living in the same house as our children and happily married to their mother. I am not making light of divorce or separated parents, I would just like to know iof there is a group out there for my demographic.

Hi cavarga, and welcome to GreatSchools.

In terms of groups, I can see how you might think there are no groups specifically for dads. But by the same token, I'm not a member of any "mom" groups, rather I prefer groups related to issues near and dear to my heart.

I know I'd welcome a dad's perspective in any of the groups I've visited. I don't know exactly why, but women definitely outnumber men in this community, but any dad is welcome in any group to lend perspective and share in the joys and challenges of parenting and school issues.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I'd encourage you to get involved in some of the existing groups before starting a new one...I belong to a couple of online forums, and while there aren't as many men in them, some of the most valued contributors turn out to be dads....when it comes to issues pertaining to children, it shouldn't matter if the perspectives are coming from moms or dad, or even grandparents/aunts & uncles, etc.
Depending on the age(s) of your kids, you might want to join the Middle School Parents Group, or others that already exist and relate to the needs of your children.

Hi Cavarga,
The groups that you see have been created by other members. If you don't see a group that fits your need, then we encourage you to create one. You can create a group by going to our "Create a Group" page:
community.greatschools.net/groups/

I know there are many other dads who participate regularly on these boards, so you aren't alone!

Hi cavarga,

I scanned the group list and I did not see one, please anyone correct me if I am wrong. Another suggestion would be to start a group for your demographic! If you need tips for starting out I also suggest joining our group "tips for group leaders." My group Father's For Equal Rights! is not just for non residential fathers it is also for people like me who want to help fathers gain equal access to their children. It also gives tips for fathers who do have equal access to their children on how better themselves and make the most of their time with their children. If you do decide to start that group you can count on me as a member.

Good luck!
