contact your local dept. of health and welfare most of the time there is programs that can help with after school care one way or another. the thing is most people dont know that they canot give this info unless asked for it sounds funny but true. i dont know about your area but the gov. provides so many things. it may take you over into the next county for a service and you may need to pay a fee but a lot of child care programs have also somekind of trans. just check them out very good because some programs are very over loaded for proper care. or you can contact your local CPS or if involved in church ask for helpful info some can be very helpful
there are probably community action partnerships or county agencies that will help provide transport for your child. some do it for free, others ask fro a small donation or a fee
like 1seremen suggested, talk to other parents and see if there is a chance to carpool and you could kick in on gas money. i don't like the idea of a high school student taking my kid to school though, unless i know that person and his/her family.

In my school distict, child care provider provides transpoartation for a child. Some parents hire high school students or other parents to transport their children to the after school program. My local YMCA has a bus for this service.
I will suggest that you call your child's school office and ask them for any suggestion. Or you speak with parents who are available to help you, which you will pay for the service.
