Does anyone know where I can get free money for Sylvan for my son? I borrowed money off of my 401k and credit card, but he still needs to attend longer-good progress has been made, but more is needed.
Ask your princapal or the lead teacher of the grade your son is in for a list of tutors. Local teachers know what is expected inorder for your child to be successful. If there is a community college or university near, inquire to see if Learning Labs are available.
I taught at Huntington Learning Center for a summer. It only zeroed in on the isolated skills. When the student had to apply the skill with other skills, there was no carry over.
I'd ask a teacher at your son's school if they are interested in tutoring your child after school. I guarantee it'll cost less than Sylvan, and because a teacher from your school will be familiar with the curriculum, it might be more effective.
We used Sylvan last year to prepare for high school algebra, and my daughter still failed it. The way I see it, Sylvan owes me a $1,000 refund. :-(
you can't get free money for sylvan you are going to half to keep using credit cards or 401 k money. is there not a program were you leave were kids can stay after school and learn? you mite want to ask the school for programs after school there should be something you can send your kids to learn more skills for free.
