iPhones are great! But do they belong in the classroom?

EllasDad
It's hard to imagine a kid in the U.S. not exposed to the massive amounts of iPhone buzz and marketing. As a self-diagnosed technophile, I love the iPhone, but do cell phones belong in the classroom?

The only way a cell phone belongs in a classroom is if the student is Junior High or above. From K to 6 schools do a very good job of delivering necessary messages. Until kids are in college, all cell phones should remain off and in a student's backpack until school has been dismissed.

Kids have way too many things that compete with their attention in school these days. They don't need a cell phone to add to the distractions.

With all of the problems that we are facing in schools now such as kids coming to school with knives and guns. I think that all students and staff should have cell phones in the classrooms. I think that the phones should remain off unless an emergency arrive or they can be used on break to reach a perent. So my answer remains yes to cell phones in the classrooms, it may just save someones life.

Which classroom! I think it belongs in the college classroom if a student need it and he or she can afford it. Many cell phones can be use as a note book and it is very helpful for some students.

My children are in the elementary school and the school district prohibited the use of cell phone in the classroom. Student, teachers, and administrators are not allowed to use cell phone in the classroom.

Yes, cell phone belongs in a child's backpack if he or she/family needs it. A student's cell phone in the backpack must be turn off while in the classroom.

My daughter who is now 11 has been traveling from borough to borough since she was 8 years old. My husband was not too excited about his 8 year old riding the city bus alone, but we had no other choice. Well she was not actually alone; she was also with her 7 year old God Sister. They each carried cell phones to alert me When they got dismissed from school, at the bus stop, on the bus, and once they arrived @ the church we than attended. This went on for one year before they started using the train. I remember a story I can now laugh at that was not so funny when it occurred. The girls was being treated very mean by the New York City bus operator. The bus number they took daily often would be express and to be sure that they rode the local they would enquire with the bus driver. Well this special driver felt stress to answer the same question whenever the girls boarded his bus. My daughter actually would call me so that I could hear how this bus driver spoke to them. Well enough was enough and we had to correct this bus driver’s behavior. So my God daughters mother along with myself decided that we was going to meet the girls early that to see up close just what happen when they approached the bus driver. Well low and behold the bus driver sucked his teeth and stated to another passenger whom he was in conversation with how he is sick and tired of these two girls asking him dam questions every day. Well I wont bore you as for how me and my sister friend jump up and shocked the color from his body. My point is that if my girls did not have a cell phone with them to notify us regarding their commute I would die early from a nervous condition. Smile and thank the person who created cell phones and bless T-moble for having such wonderful affordable prices.
