I'm looking for books for my reluctant reader. He's 12-years-old, likes Harry Potter and the Hardy Boys.

Marian
Can anybody give me some book suggestions for my boy? My goal is to get him hooked on reading this summer.

If he likes Harry Potter, then he would probably like something like Inkheart, or the Pendragon series. Another series is Charlie Bone.

My kids love the Cique de Freak series by Darren Shan.
"My name is Darren Shan. I'm a half-vampire. I wasn't born that way. I lived at home with my parents and younger sister, Annie. I enjoyed school and has lots of friends. I liked reading horror stories and watching scary movies.

When a freak show cam to town, my best friend, Steve Leopard, got tickets and we went. It was great, really spooky and weird. But the weirdest part came after the show...

Suddenly my days as a human were over. My nights as a vampire's assistant had begun."

And Warner Brothers is going to make it into a movie so its a good idea to read it first before it comes out.

Suomi0304, I think the author of Hatchet is Gary Paulsen. Another great book!

Try the Percy Jackson series, written by Rick Riordan www.rickriordan.com/children.htm, my 12 yr old reluctant reader loves it. It is about a boy who is adhd/ld who is also half god half human involves mythology.
