What does your school do to encourage dads to be involved at school?

lisaedit
In the community where I live, several of the elementary schools have "Dads Clubs." These clubs organize Dads and Kids (no moms allowed!) camping trips, family movie nights at the school, and have done improvement projects such as building a patio for the kindergarten room. Many of the dads seem to like these groups and feel more welcome here than at the more moms-dominated PTA.

Our school just started a club..I guess you can call it, called F.B.I. "fathers being involved" where they would come to the school for meetings and participate in events and even take turns helping kids out of the cars in the mornings, and go on really cool trips, really cool I wish my hubby could be part but his job is a hour away from home and takes up majority of his time during the week:P

In our school we have Dad's Read Day. You would be amazed at the enthuciasm displayed by students when a man reads to them.

Also, we encourage dads to come by at lunchtime whenever they can and eat or just sit with their child and their friends at lunchtime.

We also usually have a day before school starts back in the summer when men from the community help to repair or paint the playground equipment and maintain the site.
