Can anyone give me info which one of good elementary school around N. Dallas, TX

ivynason
I am a single mom with a 10 years old daughter and a 62 years old mother will move this July from MI to N. Dallas, TX. I need to find a good school for her asap, so I can find an apartment to move to. She plays violin very well and hoping to get into public school with orchestra class. My mother doesn't drive, so if the area to live is walking distance or on bus route to park, community center, library, she can be independent since I work full time. I will be working at EXPO in N. Dallas. If anyone familiar with this area, please help. Safety is another important aspect. I don't know anyone there to ask. Thank you.

Thank you MagnetMom. There are too many to choose from. I narrowed down to 15 schools in Richardson and Plano. This website helps me tremendously. Now I need to narrow down some more.

Hi ivynason,

Good luck with your impending move. Great Schools has a research and compare feature that allows you to compare different schools in a specific area with test scores and with parent reviews. The North Dallas page is located at www.greatschools.net/search/search.page?search_type=0&q=north+dallas&state=TX&x=20&y=3&c=school

As you settle in on a school, contact a local realtor. They're in the position to help you find an apartment in the area you're looking with all the attributes you'd like in the neighborhood.

Good luck!
