My nephew goes to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel which is on Detroit Road in Cleveland, Oh. I know a little bit about it. He has been going there for 3 years now, since kindergarten. Good luck with that.

I'm not from Cleveland, but hope this is helpful.
If you start at the Diocese of Cleveland education web site:
oce-ocs.org/oce/
You will find a list of the schools, contacts, etc.

I would prepare a sheet of questions and interview the administrators of schools that you are considering. Besides usual questions of curriculum, extra-curricular opportunities, etc., ask for detailed examples in answering your specific questions such as:

How they have handled bullying situations?
To what extent (if any) are drugs present in their school and the school's neighborhood?
How much access do parents have to the classrooms or hallways during school hours?
What qualities do they guarantee in each teacher?
Do they tolerate teachers yelling at classes or other less-than-role-model behavior?
How do they incorporate the faith into everyday life at school?
What methods of motivation and what methods of discipline do they implement on a daily basis?

Once you narrow down your choices, speak with the teachers who would teach your child(ren) and contact the board members - especially those who have children at the school - for more feedback.

At my son's school, children will shadow the class for a few days to get a feel for the environment for themselves. Sometimes the school will help parents of an incoming child contact other parents so families can plan get-togethers with classmates the summer before school starts. By the time classes begin, they've established friendships and transition problems are non-existent.
