Make it a game. It worked for me when I taught 6th grade. You can turn questions & answers into a game show.
You can write down information on note cards. Ask he/she a question, if your child gets the answer right, give the note card to him/her. If they miss it, the card stays in your pile. Take a break & them come back to see if you child can get more cards in his/her pile.
I have also played trashketball too. Basically you ask a question, if you child gets it right they get a point, they can shoot scrap paper into the trashcan or recycling bin for an extra point.
I hope this helps. Finals get be a head ache but just remember your child needs breaks often so he/she doesn't get bogged down. Snacks help too.
